HRS responded shortly after 1pm with CCEMS and Catawba County Sherriff's Office to a
medical call in Mountain View.  Rescue and EMS stood by at a near by church
due to scene safety.  The Special Tactics and Response Team of Catawba County
was on scene after it was learned that the man was heavily armed.  Around 330, it was
reported by sherriff's on the scene that the house had exploded and was fully involved
with one person still inside. Several fire departments reponded to the scene to try to
control the fire.  A tanker shuttle had to be utilized due to no hydrants being within 4 minutes.
It was reported that the house blew up after his wife reported that he had
threatened suicide. The SBI Arson Investigation Agents responded to the scene due to
the fatality in an attempt to determine what triggered the explosion,
which may have been caused by propane or gasoline.
Rescue units were on scene until shortly after 1am.

EMS Medic's 11,13, & 6, EMS 308, Mtn. View Fire, Propst Fire, Cookesville Fire,
Hickory Fire Engine 7 & Tanker 7, Long View Fire, Newton Fire Tanker 3,

February 26, 2011 
HRS responded with CCEMS and Hickory Fire Engines 7, 5 and 1, Tanker's 6 and 7,
Ladder 2, and C7 to a structure fire.  CCSD unit in the area advised heavy smoke in the
area of Robsinson Rd.  Crews had a difficult time getting water to the fire due to the
single lane roadway sitting approximately 1000 ft off the main road.  It took a little
over 1 hour to control the fire. 

  



 February 1, 2011 
HRS responded to a MVC with injury, reported 3 cars involved.  Upon
arrival, rescue found 3 vehicles that had crashed and several people
involved.  Another ambulance was called emergency to the scene due to
the number of patients.  Reportedly, two vehicles had collided almost head
on when one of them crossed the center line causing the car to then collide
with another car.  Hickory Rescue 1, 930, as well as two ALS units
and Mountain View Fire Department were called to the scene.
  


January 25, 2011 
HRS responded with 93USAR1 and 93Medic2 to a structure fire
for Long View station 2 and Icard station 64.  It appeared a residence off
a dirt road had fire and smoke coming from the attic.  Crews worked quickly
to gain control of the fire.  Members from Cooksville FD were also
on scene to assist.


January 24, 2011 
Hickory Rescue was dispatched to a traffic accident on highway 18.
Initial dispatch stated that the pickup had rolled several times down the
roadway before coming to rest down a small embankment.  First members
of fire on the scene notified the communications center that one patient was
trapped under the vehicle.  At rescue's arrival, pt was free from under the
pickup.  Due to the patients injuries and mechanism of injury, CMC's
MedCenter Air was called to take the pt to CMC.  Rescue then stood by
with lighting for SHP.



January 9, 2011 
At approximately 4:30 am, Hickory Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire
in the area of Highway 10 West at Rick's Convenience Store.  Upon rescue's
arrival, the structure was fully involved.  Crews were on scene throughout the
entire day as the Catawba County Fire Investigation team and State Bureau
of Investigation was on scene.
