Frequently Asked Questions
Regarding Membership

1) Is Hickory Rescue a Volunteer or Paid organization?
Hickory Rescue is both a paid and volunteer organization.  We staff at least 1 paid
member 22/7 most days though we rely heavily on our volunteers.  Our volunteers
are equipped with Motorola Minotor pagers, walkies, turn out gear, and medical bags
allowing them to run calls from wherever, whenever.

2) Is Hickory Rescue accepting new members?
Yes!  Hickory Rescue is always accepting new members!

3) What classes/certifications do I need to be a member?
Since HRS is part of CCEMS medical first response, our members must
either have an EMT-B certification, or be enrolled in an EMT-B class
within 6 months of joining.  We also ask that our members obtain their
"RT" (rescue technician).  Per NFPA standards, you must also have a
HAZMAT Awareness level certification to be within the hot zone of any
traffic accident or HAZMAT incident.  Please contact an officer for
full information.

4) How Do I Become A Member?
In order to become a member, you must fill out a membership
application found on our "joining" page.  You must attend
either the 1st or 3rd Wednesday meeting starting at 1900 and
turn in your application to the membership committee.  Please
contact slecompte@hickoryrescue.org for more info.
