| The Hickory Rescue Squad was organized in 1955 as Catawba Valley Life Saving and Rescue Squadron, Inc. Eight years later it was renamed Hickory Rescue Squad Inc. Hickory Rescue Squad is a non-profit, mostly volunteer agency. We have a membership capacity of fifty members who hold Emergency Medical Technician certifications with the state of North Carolina, and provide volunteer services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Hickory Rescue Squad receives approximately 1500 emergency calls a year to provide back up for Catawba County EMS, and to provide rescue services such as exracation, water rescue, search and rescue, trench rescue, large animal rescue, etc. Hickory Rescue is a multi-function squad that provides services to the community as well. We provide stand-by services to assist the fire departments, demonstrations to youth groups and schools, stand-by at football games for Lenoir-Rhyne College and three area high schools along with many others. Hickory Rescue Squads district encompasses more than one-third of Catawba County. We currently operate two bases and have a QRV at St. Stephens Fire Department Monday through Friday. Hickory Rescue Squad recently received ERT certifictation in Trench rescue, High Angle rescue, Swiftwater rescue, Heavy rescue, and Open water rescue. The members of Hickory Rescue are proud to serve the citizens of Western Catawba County and we appreciate you support. |
